fundraiser un at duke island park

The deadline is Thursday, August 14, to register for the third annual Andi’s Team 5K.

This highly popular fundraiser event will be held on Sunday, October 12, at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater. The event is run to raise funds for the A-T (Ataxia-Telangiectasia) Children’s Project.

The race was initiated two years ago by Kimberly Cook, a 3rd Grade Teacher at John F. Kennedy Primary School, and Lauren Young, who had served as the Nurse at the John F. Kennedy Primary School..

The race is organized in honor of Van Holten Primary School student Andi Young, Lauren’s daughter, who has A-T, which is a rare genetic disease that causes loss of muscle control and balance, and cancer, among other side effects

.All of the funds raised go directly to Andi, who joined a clinical trial in Boston in June of this summer of 2025.

More information about the trial can be found at:https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT06673056?cond=Ataxia-Telangiectasia&rank=5

Ms. Cook reported that registering by August 14 will secure a spot and a shirt.

She also reported that any registrants after that date are not guaranteed a shirt.

"We are looking forward to another fantastic race this year! We have been so supported by many Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District students, families, and staff members over the past two years, and would love to see your smiling faces out on the course again in year three. This race and its fundraising initiatives would not be possible without you,” Ms. Cook said.
