Alison Lardieri finally achieved that elusive Skyland Conference Championship in gymnastics

Lardieri, a senior gymnast at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, has won four Somerset County Championships in all-around, but she has never won the Skyland Conference title—until now.

On Friday, October 30, Lardieri won the all-around title at the Skyland Conference Championship meet, held at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington.

Lardieri claimed her fourth Somerset County all-around title on Wednesday, October 21, at Montgomery High School.

In the Skyland Conference meet, she placed first in all-around with a score of 37.575, while she finished first in the vault with a score of 906 and on the bars with a score of 9.4. She placed second in the floor exercise with a score of 9.475.

She became the first gymnast from Bridgewater-Raritan to win the Skyland Conference all-around title since Emily Shugan accomplished that feat in 2012.

Hillsborough High School, which edged Bridgewater-Raritan for the Somerset County title, also won the Skyland Conference Championship meet with a score of 111.05, and Bridgewater-Raritan was the runner-up with 107.45.

Lardieri, who was named a First Team selection the past two years, will now focus on a state championship.

She and her Bridgewater-Raritan teammates will compete in the State Sectional Group B meet on Saturday, November 7, at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Edison. The State Individual Championship meet will be held Saturday, November 14, at Brick Memorial High School.
