The defense of Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s football team again denied its opponent from entering the end zone.
Bridgewater-Raritan pitched a 20-0 shutout over Westfield High School during a rain-free but breezy afternoon on Saturday, September 26, at Kehler Stadium in Westfield.
Bridgewater-Raritan, which was powered on offense by hard-running back Jahmire Black, who scored one touchdown, and Jonathan Okolo, who ran into the end zone twice, was coming off a 7-3 victory against Ridge High School on September 18.
Linemen Trent Levash and Nick Bogolashvilli, end Jamelle Jones, linebackers Anthony Lorino and Nick Crovelli, corner James Locrotondo and safety Evan Woodring were among the many heroes of the rugged Bridgewater-Raritan defense that stopped Westfield twice deep in Bridgewater-Raritan territory.
Bridgewater-Raritan, the defending North Jersey Section 2, Group 5 state sectional playoff champion, will bring its 4-1 record into its next game, Homecoming on Friday, October 2, against Hunterdon Central Regional High School at Basilone Memorial Field in Bridgewater.
The loss dropped Westfield to 1-4.
