BRHs boys track going to group 4

Record-setting performers will seek to win state championships when the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys’ track and field team competes at the Group 4 meet.

Discus thrower Jordan Estomata and the 4x400 relay team of Max Pasewaldt, Jeremiah Wiley, Justin Reid and Kenny Graham are coming off school-record efforts from the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional meet at Ridge High School on May 15 and 16.

Now they, along with three of their Bridgwater-Raritan teammates, will zero in on more records and state championships when they participate in the Group 4 state meet on May 29 and 30 at Franklin High School.

Estomata, a junior, set a school record when he threw the discus with a measurement of 155-0 to win the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 state sectional title at Ridge. In the shot put, which he also set a school record in earlier this season at the Somerset County Championships, Estomata placed third with a throw of 49-0.50 in the state sectional meet.

Juniors Pasewaldt, Reid and Graham and sophomore Wiley teamed to win the state sectional race in the 4x400 when they came across first with a school-record time of 3:21.35.

Junior Jishnu Kalaivan will join Pasewaldt, Reid and Graham in the 4x100 in the Group 4 race. They set a school record in this relay earlier this season at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia on April 24, clocking 43.34. They ran a 43.57 to place second in the state sectional meet.

Reid, Graham and juniors Drew Ciccotelli and Zach Urbanowicz will seek individual titles at the Group 4 meet for Bridgewater-Raritan.

Reid will run in the 100-meter dash, where he placed second in the state sectional race in 11.13; Graham will spring in the 200, a race that he finished third in 22.51 at the state sectional meet; Ciccotelli will compete in the pole vault, an event that he placed second in 13-6 at the state sectionals; and Urbanowicz will compete in the 3,200, a run that he finished fourth in 9:29.63 at the state sectionals.
