Bidgewater-Raritan High School will have two wrestlers earn state medals.

Bridgewater-Raritan wrestlers Matt McCann and Trent Levash will conclude their individual tournament runs as state medalists on the final day of the wrestling season.

While the only remaining question is where the Bridgewater-Raritan juniors will stand on it, they will close out the 2025-26 season on the podium of the prestigious Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, March 14, in Atlantic City.

They are guaranteed at least two more matches: one in the fifth round of wrestlebacks to close out the night on Friday, March 13, and then at least one more on the final morning of the NJSIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament, starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 14.

The State tournament will conclude on Saturday, March 14, when wrestlers receive medals for placing in the top eight of their weight divisions.

Two of those medalists will be Levash and McCann.

The seventh-seeded Levash won his first two bouts at 285 pounds before losing to second-seeded Mateo Vinciguerra of Woodstown High School by a fall in the quarterfinals, which eliminated him from state championship contention.

Levash, who missed roughly a month of the season due to injury before returning to lead the Panthers to a second straight North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 state sectional title, only moved up to heavyweight from 215 pounds just before the start of this season’s individual tournament.

Levash pinned his way onto the podium with a victory by fall in 1:29 against 12th-seeded Jason Gross of Saint Joseph High School of Metuchen.

His classmate, McCann, had a longer road to get to the podium after winning his preliminary bout and losing his pre-quartefinal bout at 165 pounds, which eliminated him from state championship contention and sent him into wrestlebacks.

The 13th-seeded McCann responded by surging his way onto the podium with three straight victories by decision by a combined total of just six points.

No victory was bigger for McCann than the one he collected in his consolation bout, when he trailed 10th-seeded Justin Bullock of Mount Olive High School by seven points after one period. McCann stunned the crowd by rallying for 10 straight points, including the next seven to force sudden victory, when he produced the walk-off takedown at 6:57 to seal his status as a state medalist.
