An amazing and impactful career for Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls’ wrestling senior captain Paige Karp came to an end on Sunday morning, March 8.
After collecting a third-place finish at last weekend’s district individual tournament, she competed as the No. 8 seed in the 120-pound bracket at the NJSIAA Region 2 Girls’ Wrestling Individual Tournament on Sunday, March 8, at Union High School in Union.
To launch the day, Karp was pinned in 2:24 by ninth-seeded Skylar Karpew of Delaware Valley Regional High School. She was sent to the consolation bracket, where later that morning, she was eliminated from the tournament by a fall in 1:11 against seventh-seeded Razz Smith from West Orange High School.
Karp will conclude her senior season with an impressive record of 25-8. She served as team captain this winter.
Following Bridgewater-Raritan’s performances at Union High School this weekend, Region 4 champion Trent Levash (285 pounds), Region third-place finisher Matt McCann (165), and Region 4 fourth-place finisher Andrew Adell (113) all qualified for the State tournament that will be wrestled at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on March 12-14.
