Three Bridgewater-Raritan High School wrestlers, including Region 4 champion Trent Levash, advance to the State tournament.

Levash improved to 29-1 when he won the heavyweight title, while Matthew McCann moved to 41-3 when he captured the third-place consolation bout at 165 pounds, and Andrew Aell (34-9) placed fourth at 113 pounds for Bridgewater-Raritan during the Region 4 tournament that was completed at Union High School on Saturday, March 7.

They will wrestle in the State tournament, which begins on Thursday, March 12, and runs through Saturday, March 14, at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

The top four finishers in each weight class from all eight Regions that ended on Saturday, March 7, qualified for the State tournament.

Levash will make his second straight trip to Atlantic City after placing fourth in Region 4 at 215 pounds in 2025.

This winter, he was up a weight at 285 pounds, when Levash lived up to his top seeding, and he pinned second-seeded Raymir Brighton (30-2) of Plainfield High School in 3:01 during the title bout.

McCann earned his first trip to the State tournament when he pinned Ryder Vorndran of Brealey/Dayton High School co-op team at 4:35 in the third-place consolation bout at 165 pounds.

Adell will also make his first trip to the State tournament when he finished fourth at 113 pounds. He was pinned by Phillip Griffin of Rahway High School in 5:57 during the third-place match.

All three were instrumental in leading Coach Kyle Murphy's Bridgewater-Raritan team to its second straight North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 state sectional title this winter.
