The main cafeteria at Bridgewater-Raritan High School was the place to be for a lively night of celebration.
On the evening of Friday, June 13, the Bridgewater-Raritan High School PE Partners Prom was enjoyed by an estimated 70 students and 20 staff members who danced, ate, and generally had a fun night together.
The PE Partners is a collaboration between the Special Education and Physical Education departments at Bridgewater-Raritan High School to promote inclusive education for all students. The PE Partners is a Physical Education class where students with developmental disabilities are partnered with students without disabilities to encourage socialization and practice communication skills while developing recreational skills.
The gala event was under the coordination of Carey Marago, who is an Instructional Assistant at the high school.
She shared the experiences of this wonderful affair.
“This year’s PE Partners Prom was an unforgettable celebration of joy, friendship, and inclusion! Our students danced the night away, enjoyed delicious food (thanks to generous donations from local businesses and staff), and created lasting memories with their peers,” Ms. Marago said.
She thanked the many supporters.
“The prom wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our school community. From setting up decorations to donating desserts, picking up food, and lending a helping hand,” she said.
Ms. Marago added:
“We all hope that we have created a lifelong memory for all the students who attended.”
