Safety is critically important.
That statement is preached and practiced daily in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.
In the school district’s mission to ensure that students and staff are in safe hands, a reunification training was held on Tuesday, August 19.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School was the venue where administrators and staff members from all 11 schools in the district gathered to participate in the “Standard Reunification Method” on that morning.
The morning-long program was spearheaded by Mike Voorhees, Security Coordinator, and Ted Lewis, the Assistant Security Coordinator, for the school district.
Mr. Voorhees and Mr Lewis explained the purpose of the event.
“The safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority. In any emergency, one of
the most important steps is making sure students are safely and securely reunited with their
families.”
The program was led by Kevin Burd, a Training Director for “I Love U Guys Foundation.”
Mr. Voorhees and Mr. Lewis were joined at the training program by John Mazuera and Ed Avallon, who are Campus Monitors for the school district, and MikeThomsen of the Bridgewater Police Department, who is a School Resource Officer for the school district.
This training exemplifies the highly collaborative and professional relationships between the Bridgewater-Raritan Security Personnel and law enforcement officers from Bridgewater-Township and Raritan Borough.
