Employment Opportunities

For substitute teaching and substitute nursing, please request a Substitute Teacher Application packet and Employment Verification form. You may return the completed package with the following documents to the Human Resources Department:

• Official college transcript showing a minimum of 60 college credits
• Original ID for the I-9 form
• Copy of your current NJ Substitute Teacher Certification
• Physical with Mantoux test completed within twelve (12) months of application
• Receipt for fingerprinting or the archiving of fingerprints (Instructions are included in the application packet.) Fingerprint clearance is typically published two weeks after fingerprinting or initiating an archive request.
• Substitute nurse applications also require a copy of a current NJ Nursing License

Please note that NJ law requires that an employment verification be completed for all previous employment during the past 20 years for positions in which you had contact with children. This includes, but is not limited to, working as a: babysitter, camp counselor, teacher, nanny, day care provider, etc. One form is required for each former employer that meets this criteria.

Sexual Misconduct/Child Abuse Disclosure Release Form

If you require a NJ Substitute Teacher Certificate, we will send the application to the county on your behalf. The process of obtaining a substitute certificate typically takes two weeks.

Daily substitute teachers are paid $155.00 per day.

Substitute nurses are paid $275.00 per day. 

After working as a substitute teacher in the district for 30 days in one school year, you become eligible for preferred substitute status for the following school year.

All substitute teachers are required to complete online training through Safe Schools. Training must be completed annually and within 45 days of hire. Failure to complete this training will result in removal from the Bridgewater-Raritan substitute roster.
