All certificate holders shall report their arrest or indictment for any crime or offense to the Superintendent of Schools within fourteen calendar days of the arrest or indictment in accordance with the provisions of N.J.A.C. 6A:9B-4.3. For purposes of this policy, “certificate holders” shall include all individuals who hold certificates, credentials, certificates of eligibility (CEs), and certificates of eligibility with advance standing (CEASs) issued by the State Board of Examiners. For purposes of this Policy, the term “certificate” shall include all standard, emergency and provisional certificates, all credentials, and all CEs and CEASs issued by the State Board of Examiners.
The report submitted to the Superintendent shall include the date of arrest or indictment and charge(s) lodged against the certificate holder. Such certificate holders shall also report to the Superintendent the disposition of any charges within seven calendar days of the disposition. Failure to comply with these reporting requirements may be deemed “just cause” for revocation or suspension of certification pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:9B-4.4. The school district shall make these reporting requirements known to all new employees upon initial employment and to all employees on an annual basis.

This section is designed to help you quickly navigate the process of requesting a Board Approved Leave of Absence. Once you have received information that a Board Approved Leave of Absence may be appropriate, the action of formally designating leave as Medical, FMLA, NJFLA, Military, etc. should begin.

If you are thinking about retirement, please review the attached information, which includes a timeline to assist you in planning up to eight months before retirement.
Remember that you must apply for retirement on MBOS at least four to six months before your retirement date. You will not be permitted to file more than one year before your retirement.

Level changes are made twice per school year, September 1 and February 1. To qualify, all credits and degrees used to support the move must be completed by the effective date of the change.
Application deadlines are:
October 10 for a September 1 level change.
March 10 for a February 1 level change.
September 1 level changes are recommended for Board approval in September and October.
February 1 level changes are recommended for Board approval in March.
All approved changes are retroactive to the effective date.
Forward all completed applications with an official transcript for all credits being used to support the move to Michelle Munley, Manager of Human Resources, before the deadline dates listed above.
Teachers are eligible for reimbursement of one hundred percent (100%) of the tuition costs for accredited courses up to twelve (12) credits in a school year, but no more than six (6) credits per semester when school is open. Each teacher is guaranteed reimbursement for the first approved three (3) credits completed in each contract year. For more information, please refer to the BREA Agreement Article VIII.
Once payment for first-time courses has been distributed, reimbursement for pool courses will be processed. The amount of reimbursement for pool courses is contingent upon the balance remaining. There is no specific pay date for pool courses. Though they are generally paid in October, that date is subject to change.
By contract, tuition reimbursement is based on the New Jersey state college tuition rates.
How to Apply for Tuition Reimbursement
All course approval forms must be submitted and approved before the start of each class. Upon successful completion of each course, you must submit a transcript with a final grade, course bill, proof of payment and Tuition Reimbursement Voucher. All supporting documentation should be sent to Janice Festa in the Human Resources Department.
Separate copies of the back-up documentation must be submitted for each reimbursement application.
Course Approval Submission Deadlines are as follows:
Courses beginning on or after May 1
Course Approval Forms must be submitted between Jan. 1- April 15
Tuition Reimbursement Vouchers must be submitted to HR no later than Oct. 10
Courses beginning on or after Sept. 1
Course Approval Forms must be submitted between May 1 - August 15
Tuition Reimbursement Vouchers must be submitted to HR no later than March 10
Courses beginning on or after Jan. 1
Course Approval Forms must be submitted between Sept. 1 - Dec. 15
Tuition Reimbursement Vouchers must be submitted to HR no later than July 10
Course Approval forms are located in the Main Office of your school building
