APRIL 2021

The following is a listing of special scholarship programs that are being offered virtually through Naviance. These programs provide opportunities for seniors to apply for various scholarships.

CNA SCHOLARSHIP: Apply now for the CNAfreetraining.com annual scholarship! As one of the internet’s leading providers of free CNA training materials like our free CNA practice test, CNA salary information, and CNA skills test tips, we know that employers are always looking for qualified CNAs. We want to do our part to make sure there are qualified applicants for them to hire by offering a scholarship to aspiring CNAs. We are not a CNA program. This scholarship can only be applied towards the education costs of a state-licensed CNA training program. BRIDGEWATER WOMAN’S CLUB 2021 SCHOLARSHIP:  The Bridgewater Woman’s Club will be offering two scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each to a female graduating student that has been accepted to an accredited 2 or 4-year college. The following criteria must be met to be considered for this scholarship: Completed BRHS scholarship application form.  Submit a current high school transcript, one letter of recommendation from a supervising teacher, a list of extra-curricular activities and volunteerism experiences. VNA HEALTH GROUP, INC. SCHOLARSHIP: The Visiting Nurse Association Health Group, Inc. is excited to inform you that we are offering two (2) scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each for any high school student who will be pursuing a BSN in an accredited college or university Nursing program.  The deadline for the application is Friday, April 9th. The application should be scanned and sent to this email address or fax to the number listed below. Incomplete applications will not be considered. The scholarships will be awarded the first week of May which is when our agency celebrates Nurses’ Day (week). BART PITMAN MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP: This $5,000 keyboard scholarship is available to a high school senior who plans to declare a major in classical piano or organ at a degree granting conservatory, college or university in the fall semester following graduation from high school.  One winner is selected each year. Applicants should be prepared to play three pieces of contrasting periods or composers from the standard classical piano/organ literature.  A jury of professional keyboard musicians will select a winner on the basis of the live audition performance. Applicants must reside in or study with a teacher who resides in Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Applicants must have been accepted by an accredited degree-granting music institution at the time of application. In addition to receiving this one-time-only scholarship, the winner is traditionally invited to perform at the music club’s Young Performers Concert held in the spring of his or her freshman year. Winners of this award have gone on to study at Curtis Institute of Music, Juilliard, Eastman, Westminster Choir College, Oberlin, Indiana University, New England Conservatory, Esther Boyer and other fine schools of music. THE ROTARY CLUB OF SOMERVILLE & BRIDGEWATER (RCS&B):  The RCS&B will offer one $1,500 scholarship to be awarded to a senior planning on attending college next year from surrounding high schools. In addition, they will award the von Stade Music Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one senior who plans on majoring in music in 2021-2022.  Applications for the Von Stade music scholarship are encouraged to see school's music director or contact Lilian Tarantino at Connie's Music Center at 908-725-0737.  RCS&B will also offer one $5,000 scholarship to the most deserving senior. The scholarship known as the Paul F. Davis Memorial Scholarship is awarded in four annual installments. ST. CLAIR FAMILY SPEECH & DEBATE AWARD: The St. Clair award recognizes both academic excellence and achievement in any format of speech or debate. Must be a 2021 senior, member of the BRHS Forensics Team in either speech or debate for at least two years, completes of all components of the application and complete the Local Scholarship Student Application (Google form) at the BRHS website homepage or Student Resources. WASHINGTON VALLEY GARDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: The WVGC recognizes students interested or involved in projects relating to gardening, horticulture, conservation, wildlife, environmental education or ecology. MUSIC IN THE SOMERSET HILLS - YOUNG MUSICIANS SCHOLARSHIP:  Music in the Somerset Hills is offering two (2) $1,000 scholarships to a student who resides in Somerset, Morris, Hunterdon, and Union counties that demonstrates exemplary musicianship and plans to pursue a music major at an accredited college or university in the 2021-2022 academic year. Interested applicants will need to MP3 files containing an audio recording of two contrasting works, not exceeding four minutes per piece, performed by the applicant on his/her chosen instrument. NJ CENTER FOR TOURETTE SYNDROME AND ASSOCIATED DISORDERS. INC: The NJCTS will be awarding scholarships to graduating NJ high school seniors diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome. The top award is $1,000. Recipients must: live in the state of NJ, plan on attending a college or trade school on a part-time or full-time basis entering in the Fall of 2021, have a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome, provide transcript, provide letters of recommendation, and complete an essay. SOMERSET COUNTY SCHOOL NURSES ASSOCIATION NURSING DEGREE SCHOLARSHIP: The Somerset County School Nurses Association is a voluntary professional organization that provides continuing education for its members and promotes high standards of care to meet the needs of students and staff in our county schools. School nursing is a specialty within the nursing profession. To promote school nursing, they are offering a $1000 scholarship to a qualified senior. To be eligible, you must have applied and/or been accepted and plan to attend a college or university which offers an undergraduate nursing program or an accelerated BSN program. You need to reside in Somerset County or attend a Somerset County school and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. BRIDGEWATER PBA LOCAL 174 SCHOLARSHIP: Student must be majoring in criminal justice or pursuing a career in law enforcement. Write an essay of 250 words or less on the following topic:  Why do you want to pursue a career in law enforcement? HRINKO / GALIDA JFK PTO SCHOLARSHIP: Student must be a JFK alumni and complete essay requirement. PATRICIA MONAHAN SUTTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Patricia Monahan Sutter Memorial Scholarship is in honor of a beloved BRHS English teacher. She was a friend and mentor to many teachers who admired her professionalism, quiet confidence, and positive manner. ROBOTICS TEAM 303 GRACIOUS PROFESSIONALISM SCHOLARSHIP: Student must be active member as a senior with at least 2 years of participation. Write an essay of 500 words or less on the following topic:  What does Gracious Professionalism mean to you and how have you exhibited Gracious Professionalism? ROBOTICS TEAM 303 LEADERSHIP & INNOVATION SCHOLARSHIP:  Student must be an active member as a senior with at least 2 years of participation. Write an essay of 500 words or less on the following topic:  What did you learn about your leadership style? What value do you add to the team? And how will this help you in your future? STUDENT-VIEW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: The 2020 Student-View Scholarship Program is offering up to $12,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior college or career school. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications.

ANKIT GOYAL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR PUBLIC FORUM DEBATE:  Student should demonstrate excellence and dedication to Public Forum through the BRHS Forensics program with at least two years of participation.  Students should plan to be enrolled in a post-secondary institution at receipt of this award.  Write a 500-word essay detailing the impact Public Forum Debate has had on your professional goals. ANTARA GHOSH SCHOLARSHIP FOR SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING: Complete the Local Scholarship Student Application (Google form) at the BRHS website homepage or under Student Resources. Supplemental essay required. Submission instructions are in the Google folder sent via email on March 5th and also found on the BRHS website homepage or under Student Resources. Requirements: female, GPA 4.0-4.3, majoring in engineering or science, and essay required.

LISA A. DEMARZO RABKE AI SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is open to seniors who attended the District’s self-contained Academically Independent classes (AI). The scholarship, worth $500, will be awarded to one former student who has demonstrated a commitment to educational excellence, leadership, and community service. Eligible students must meet the following criteria: must have attended AI during any or all of grades 2–5, obtain one (1) teacher recommendation, completed student activity sheet, include transcript and SAT scores, academic awards (if applicable) and complete an essay (prompts found on application). NEW JERSEY STATE ELKS ASSOCIATION, SPECIAL CHILDREN’S COMMITTEE: This scholarship is for high school seniors who reside in New Jersey that are physically and/or mentally challenged and will be furthering their education after graduating from high school. Two four-year scholarships (one female, one male) worth up to $2,500 per year will be awarded and two $1,000 scholarships per year.  Applicants are judged upon the student's academic record and financial need. BRIDGEWATER-RARITAN ATHLETIC CLUB - POP WARNER: The Bridgewater-Raritan Athletic Club (BRAC) invites all Class of 2021 Seniors who have participated in the Bridgewater-Raritan Pop Warner Football & Cheerleading program as both an athlete, and Student Demonstrator (cheerleading) or Jr. Coach (football) to apply for an academic scholarship. Recipients will be announced at the Senior Awards Night. Applications are available in the Senior Awards Google folder sent via email on March 5th and also found on the BRHS website homepage or under Student Resources.

PEOPLECARE CENTER SCHOLARSHIP: For more than thirty years the PeopleCare Center has provided affordable rental space for nonprofit agencies to use in facilitating their programs. The Center has been a presence in the community and has supported the nonprofits in meeting the needs of their program participants. With recognition that education is at the root of all social progress, the PeopleCare Center has decided to expand its outreach to the community at large, and commit some of its resources to provide college scholarships. PeopleCare Center will offer up to twelve $1,000.00 scholarships to be awarded to senior students planning on attending college next year. Supporting documentation including transcripts, essays and letters of recommendation can alternately be emailed to Sheryl L. Sanford of Sanford Orthodontics in Bridgewater, NJ offers a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating senior who is a current or past patient of his and is applying to college. ETS CARES SCHOLARSHIP: This program was established to assist graduating seniors in the NJ public education system achieve the goal of obtaining a higher education degree. It seeks to help public high school students facing difficult circumstances or hardships and who might not be able to achieve their dream of attending college without the assistance of a scholarship. BUDDHIST TZU CHI FOUNDATION: Tzu Chi Scholars are selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.  This is a nationwide program and each scholar will be awarded $1,000. DANIELLE FEDORTION MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Danielle Fedortion Scholarships are awarded to students that exhibit good citizenship and commitment to academic achievement and community service. You must have participated in any of the Danielle Fedortion charity events such as the Swim-A-Thon or 5K Run. HICKORY TREE CHORUS SCHOLARSHIP:  This $1,000 scholarship is being offered to a musically talented high school senior woman interested in pursuing a career in vocal music.  Qualified senior girls with good academic records and exceptional talent in vocal music are encouraged to apply.  Students should also have applied for acceptance into a music program at a college or university.  Applicants must submit an application, a CD which should include at least two vocal performances, and a short personal unlisted YouTube presentation.  For more information and an application, visit: https://hickorytreechorus.org

NEW JERSEY ELECTRONIC LIFE SAFETY ASSOCIATION (NJELSA) SCHOLARSHIP: The New Jersey Electronic Security Association (NJELSA), an official charted chapter of the Electronic Security Association (ESA), is pleased to announce the availability of college scholarship awards to sons and daughters of active-duty police and fire personnel. Their members are companies that sell, design, install, maintain and monitor electronic burglar and fire alarm systems. The scholarship awards are available to qualified high school seniors. USPAACC SCHOLARSHIPS: (U.S. PAN ASIAN AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE): Major corporations have established their Hallmark Scholarships with USPAACC, and Asian American businesses have stepped forward to support the scholarship program and endow their own scholarships.  Today, between fifteen and twenty scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 each are being awarded every year to high school seniors nationwide for their post-secondary education. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 16, a permanent resident of the U.S., beginning full-time study at college in the fall of 2021, and of Asian Pacific Island heritage. WILLIAM NASH NIVISON (“MR. BILL”) MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: The “Mr. Bill” scholarship was created to honor a beloved physical therapist in our district. He was part of the special education department since 2004. Eligible students will be attending a 2-year or 4-year college with initial plans to pursue a career in a field that serves individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities. In addition, students with volunteer experience serving those with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Essay required. AMERICAN LEGION AUXILARY SCHOLARSHIP: Grades 9-12. Applicants must be United States Citizens or Eligible Non-Citizens and may be asked to participate in a qualification interview as part of the application process to assist the ACF in ultimately determining the winners. Awards range from $1,000 - $5,000 each; with multiple winners to be selected. Each award is a non-renewable, one-time award and is to be used exclusively to offset costs and fees related directly to the student's first year of higher post-secondary education at an accredited institution of the student's choosing within the United States. JOÃO JOSẺ ‘JOHN’ SANTOS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Multiple scholarships will be awarded to deserving high school senior whose lives have been impacted by suicide or mental health challenges. Eligible students will be continuing their education and demonstrate an excellent record of academic achievements and community service. Essay required. JOHN LEPPING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: John Lepping was extremely proud of disabled students who had the courage and determination to finish their college education despite their setbacks. The John Lepping Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to qualified students seeking to further their education by attending college. At least four scholarships up to $5,000 will be awarded. This scholarship will help to deter the costs of college for disabled individuals who may not have the resources due to overwhelming medical costs. WESTMONT MONTESSORI LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP:  Two (2) $500 Legacy Scholarships are being offered to high school juniors and seniors planning to continue their post-secondary school education. To be eligible, you must have attended the Westmont Montessori School for 2 or more years. Applicants are required to write an essay describing how their Montessori foundation has helped to shape their path. Paper applications are available in the school counseling office. COUNSELING AND THERAPY SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP: Dr. Barbara Ronca, LCSW will be awarding one (1) $300 scholarship to any student accepted into a social work or psychology program (excluding Allied Health) at an accredited college or university. Student must be interested in pursuing social work, psychology or a form of direct counseling. B. DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP: The B. Davis Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be awarded to one (1) high school junior or graduating senior. This is not an academic scholarship, but you will need to provide what your future academic plans are. SALIX GASTROINTESTINAL HEALTH SCHOLARS PROGRAM: Salix Pharmaceuticals is sponsoring a scholarship to recognize residents of the United States. Salix is proud to offer an annual scholarship program – totaling $100,000 – that recognizes outstanding students living with GI disease, as they pursue their higher education goals. Applicants must have been accepted to, or are currently or will be attending an accredited, nonprofit, two- or four-year college, university, or an advanced vocational or technical school as a student in an upcoming school year. LEP FOUNDATION CURE - CANCER SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIPFor students who were diagnosed with cancer in childhood and whose disease and related treatments placed a significant financial burden on them and their families. Applicants must reside in the U.S. The recipient must demonstrate academic achievement and be accepted for admission at an institution of higher education. Applications must include a one-page essay regarding your diagnosis and the challenges that you and your family faced due to cancer and cancer-related treatments. EL DABE RITTER SCHOLARSHIPAt El Dabe Law, we passionately believe in and support the importance of a proper education. Without an education, many doors will remain closed. Going to school is an uphill battle, and if you don't have the proper aid in place, you may end up never going to school. We make this easier for you, by offering our $1,500 scholarship. This scholarship is our way of providing support to those who want a higher education. In order to apply for this scholarship, we request you write a 500+ word essay on why having a higher education is important. We'd like to learn more about you as a student, and how you've persevered and fought to get the education you want. INJURED CALL TODAY SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is available to all high school seniors and current college students who are planning on entering the medical field. We understand how difficult it can be to pay for college and medical school, and we want to provide this opportunity to supplement the affordability to a better education. This scholarship is judged and awarded primarily on merit and need. Applicant must plan to attend college by fall semester 2021 and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicants are required to write a 500-word essay on why they are interested in entering the medical field. This scholarship is a one-time award worth $1,000 to be awarded the fall semester of 2021.
