Hillside Counseling Newsletter May 2020

May 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian:

The character trait we will focus on for Star Student this month is Enthusiasm.  An enthusiastic student is someone who feels or shows great excitement about something. Having passion and enthusiasm about something is the key to building success, and it helps someone to achieve goals!

Successful people continually share opportunities and new ideas with each other. When you are enthusiastic about life, nothing can get in your way and new doors seem to open!

Staying enthusiastic during these times may seem difficult but research shows that focusing on the good things that happen to us each day helps to increase our happiness. Enthusiasm and motivation are closely linked together.

Here is an excellent yet brief article with strategies for staying motivated during the COVID-19 pandemic:

And another great article listing 10 Ways to Stay Enthusiastic:

https://thriveglobal.com/stories/10-ways-to-stay-enthusiastic/

We hope that these articles can help us to all keep in mind just how powerful and important our attitude and style of thinking is during this challenging, yet temporary period of time.  What are some ways you can show enthusiasm even now?

If you have any questions, concerns or would like more information, please feel free to contact your child’s counselor.   We are available to talk with you and your child during distance learning as needed.

Stay healthy & safe,

Mrs. Thomas 6th grade   &   Dr. Whalen 5th grade
