Tentative budget presented at board of education meeting

 

A presentation of the tentative budget for the 2023-2024 school year and follow up on the approval of the Referendum 2023 produced the main order of business when the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District’s Board of Education meeting was held Thursday, March 16.

During the regular open public meeting that was held at Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s media center, a presentation of the tentative budget by Peter Starrs, the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District’s Board Administrator/Board Secretary.

He explained that there are three phases that must be completed during the process of the school budget receiving adoption.

The 2023-2024 tentative budget must be submitted to the New Jersey Department of Education, Somerset County, by Monday, March 20. Once approval is received from Somerset County, then the tentative budget will be advertised for the public hearing. The public hearing for the adoption of the budget has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 25.

The deadline for school budgets to be adopted is Monday, May 15.

Superintendent Bob Beers touched on the wonderful news that occurred in the school district this past week when the referendum 2023 was approved by the voters in both communities.

“It was a great week and a great day (March 14) for the Bridgewater-Raritan community,” Superintendent Beers claimed. “There was a tremendous amount of discipline and time put in and there was transparency throughout the process."
