The committee is comprised of Jill Gladstone as Chair, Lynne Hurley and Barry Walker as Members, with participation from Jackie Barlow as Board President.
The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education has begun its search process for a new superintendent. As part of this process, the Board is inviting feedback from stakeholders within our community, including all district residents, parents/guardians, students, and BRRSD faculty and staff.
A community survey is being used to gather information from the stakeholders in the district. The information gathered from this community survey will assist the Board in determining the skills and characteristics sought in candidates for this position, and in developing questions to be used in the interviews. Please feel free to ask your student(s) to participate and only complete one survey per person.
June 3, 2020 - The Superintendent Search Committee met at the Wade Building on June 3 to receive applications from New Jersey School Boards Representative Gwen Thornton. There were 39 completed applications completed by candidates from both in and out of state. The committee reviewed the credentials from all 39 and then took a closer look at about 10 or so applications. After careful consideration, the committee has decided that, because of the challenges in these uncertain times, with regard to how the COVID-19 pandemic might impact the educational setting in the upcoming school year, that this is not the time to have another change in leadership over the next few months. We feel that it is in the district's best interest to have Dr. Thomas Ficarra, our Interim Superintendent, remain with us for at least a full year to provide stability and to draw upon his extensive experience. We want to thank all of the applications for demonstrating interest and hope that they consider applying in the future. We would also like to thank the individuals who took the time to respond to the superintendent search survey. Lastly, we want to thank both Jane Kirchsner and Gwen Thornton for the assistance in facilitating the search.
April 14, 2020 - The Board of Education approved Dr. Thomas Ficarra as Interim Superintendent effective July 1, 2020.
